About this service
A worn clutch is one of the bigger jobs we do — but also one we are particularly good at. Most modern clutches last 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Symptoms include slipping (revs rise but speed does not), shuddering, high biting point, or burning smell when pulling away. We use OEM-quality LUK or Sachs clutch kits and check the dual-mass flywheel at the same time — replacing both together costs less than doing them separately.
Frequently asked
How long does a clutch take to fit?▾
About 4 to 6 hours depending on the car. Most front-wheel-drives are quicker, rear-wheel-drives can take a full day.
Should I replace the dual-mass flywheel?▾
If your car has one and it is worn, yes — the cost of replacing it later is more than doing it now while the gearbox is out.
How long will a new clutch last?▾
60,000 to 100,000 miles depending on driving style. Avoid riding the clutch and it will go further.
